Three AI tools that lifted PSG’s source-to-interview conversion by 16.1%
PSG’s recruiters spent hours writing job descriptions and job-board search strings by hand. thinkbridge built three AI tools around that work, and the search string generator alone lifted source-to-interview conversion by 16.1%.

About the client
PSG is a recruitment process outsourcing firm founded in 2008 and based in California. Companies hand PSG their hiring, and its recruiters find, screen, and line up candidates for them across healthcare, financial services, retail, logistics, and manufacturing. PSG also runs its own recruitment platform, Compass.
The challenge
PSG wanted practical uses of AI that would cut cost and raise the quality of its recruiting, and it wanted measured results before committing to AI more widely.
Two jobs stood out. Writing a job description took a recruiter two to three hours per job order, and a weak description led to weak searches and missed candidates. Then, for every job board, recruiters hand-crafted the search strings that pull candidates out of it.
The solution
thinkbridge built three tools for PSG’s recruiters.
Search string generator
A recruiter describes the role and gets a ready-to-run search string for the job board, starting with Monster. It runs on GPT-3.5, and validators check every string before a recruiter sees it. It went live in four weeks, followed by four weeks of monitoring before handover.
Job description generator
Built on GPT-4, it drafts a job description from the job order in minutes. It shipped in under three months, in March 2024.
AI recruiter
A voice agent that calls candidates, screens them, and returns structured results to the recruiter, built on GPT-4o. In its proof of concept it made 18,000 calls across about 120 job orders.
Impact
- Source-to-interview conversion rose 16.1% with the search string generator.
- 90% of recruiters were using the search string generator by week four, and 92% were satisfied with it.
- Time to find candidates fell 34%, and recruiters found 46% more qualified candidates.
- 83% of generated job descriptions were accepted on the first pass.
- In the AI recruiter pilot, 54% of candidates rated the call positively, against 42% for calls with human recruiters.
PSG got the evidence it asked for at the start, and the three tools are now the base for wider AI use across its recruiting.
